Negro Leagues Baseball Team

As the Black community was left out of mainstream recreation, they were forced to create their own. Neosho, Missouri’s Morse Park began as the Negro League Baseball Park and served the surrounding area. Now locally renowned for its access to Hickory Creek, Morse Park’s popularity in the 1950s and 1960s can be attributed to it being a safe space for the Black community to hold recreational events and to take part in America’s favorite game without harassment or reproach from the white community.
